Wild Family is a hands-on outdoor skills program from Roman Venture Solutions designed to get families outside, learning together, and building the confidence to meet basic needs in the wilderness. Set in the natural environment of Central Florida, the class introduces practical skills that families can use while camping, hiking, exploring—or simply becoming more capable and prepared.
Rather than parents watching while kids participate, Wild Family is designed for the whole family to learn side-by-side. Through age-appropriate challenges and hands-on activities, families will practice skills such as fire building, finding and purifying water, shelter construction, navigation, basic first aid, identifying useful and dangerous plants, responsible foraging, outdoor cooking, knots, fishing, and understanding Florida's wildlife and ecosystems.
Just as importantly, Wild Family is about what happens between the skills. Families will have opportunities to communicate, solve problems, make decisions, overcome challenges, and rely on one another away from screens and everyday distractions.
The program emphasizes safety, stewardship, resourcefulness, and respect for God's creation. Participants learn not only how to use natural resources responsibly, but also why protecting the environment and leaving it better than they found it matters.
Families will learn to:
Meet basic needs for water, food, fire, shelter, and safety
Navigate and make smart decisions outdoors
Recognize useful, edible, and potentially dangerous plants and wildlife
Practice responsible foraging and outdoor food preparation
Develop practical survival and preparedness skills
Work together through family challenges and problem-solving activities
Become more confident and comfortable exploring Florida's wilderness
Practice stewardship and appreciation for the gifts of God found in nature
No previous outdoor experience is required. Wild Family is about learning together—not proving how much you already know.
